42, breast cancer
I'm so lucky not to only have one sister,
but three sisters. Fortunately only one
sister has had breast cancer. When I was
diagnosed with breast cancer in May 1997
it was definitely a rude shock. Having such
a beautiful and caring husband made my
journey not as tough. My belief is never
give up, enjoy, have faith, live, and learn
to love even more. I dearly love my husband,
Jim, and our children, Hugh and Claire.
Live life to the fullest each day as who
knows when it's going to be our last.

47, breast cancer
Breast cancer sounds horrific, but why
shouldn't it happen to me? My dear mother
died of it 30 years ago, and my sister was
diagnosed four months after me.
The support of family, friends and medical
experts helped me cope with the chemo,
the hair loss, the agitation. Although it was
extremely tough I never asked myself the
question "Why me?" as thousands of
Australian women get breast cancer.
I'm very pleased to say nearly four years
after my diagnosis I'm very happy,
healthy and enjoying life.
